Default Santo Domingo from the 60th floor!

Anyone who has been to Santo Domingo lately knows that the city has appropriated quite a number of midrise, highrise, and even small skyscrapers in the past few years. For people who have been in Santo Domingo or visited the city in the mid-90s and backwards, you know very well how much the city has grown with respect to highrises and skyscraper construction.

Of all the areas of the city that has received a boom in the construction of highrises, one of the most desirable and most elegant collection of highrises/skyscrapers can be found along Avenida Anacaona which spans the southwestern area of the capital from Los Cacicazgos to Bella Vista.

The rush for truly tall structures along the Anacaona began in 2003 with the construction of the ultra modern Torre Carib, 85 meters tall with 23 floors.

Today, the Anacaona is playing host to another milestone in being the site of the tallest structure in the Dominican Republic. The current construction of the Torre Caney, 150 meters tall with 38 floors and will be the tallest structure in the Caribbean once completed. The tower already has an imposing presence along the Mirador Sur park and the adjacent neighborhoods.

Well folks, it was recently made public that the same engineering company that is building the Torre Caney has submitted a new plan for a new tower on the Anacaona. The new tower doesn't have a name yet, but will consist of 60 floors which will most likely be higher than 200 meters.
