Default Dangerous driving?

While driving in the DR is certainly different than in North America, I don't find it all that problematic after being here for over 4 years and developing the required instincts. I pretty much had those instincts already because of all the Asian drivers I had driven along side in California. They would think nothing of cutting 4 lanes in one maneuver at 65 MPH to make an exit that was coming up in 100 yards.

The most dangerous driving I have seen was in Sri Lanka. Everyone was trying to pass everyone else at every instant on roads that were almost 2 lanes wide. And that was going around blind mountain road corners with the possibility of an elephant being on the road ahead. And they were driving on the "wrong" side of the road on top of that. Thrilling to say the least and much more challenging than Santo Domingo, running the gauntlet in Cabarete, or anywhere else I have been to on this island to date.
