No one knows, its still all rumors. However, if they did, then its most likely that Walmart bought then entire business and not just one or two stores.
However, I think the purchase didn't went through and I base that speculation on the fact that Wal Mart is currently constructing its own Dominican oriented website. Based on other acquisitions Wal Mart has made in other Latin American countries, they normally don't change the name of the chain stores they buy. So, if Wal Mart bought La Sirena, such store will continue to be named La Sirena and if that is the case, then there is no need for a Dominican oriented Wal Mart website.
The existance of that under construction Dominican oriented Wal Mart website is what leads me to believe that La Sirena was not bought by them and they will simply enter the Dominican market one new Wal Mart store at a time.
BTW, its not just Wal Mart that is putting attention to the Dominican market. Other stores like Target, Home Depot, IKEA (which is certain to open in Santo Domingo), Pier 1 Imports, and others targeting various segment of the Dominican market will be opening their doors in the DR in the next few years.
