WE do not have the same Problem here in San Juan even thou Slim!!! owns 90% of PRT/Claro original Verizonwireless it was a condition before approval of sale by the FCC in Washington that America Movil will invest 200 Million dollars in Upgrades of Current lines in which the company announce the will double there investment in 4 years. In Puerto rico amost 98% of the Interconective lines are Fiberoptics!!!!! Since 1992 PRT own back then by the commonwealth of Puerto rico has invested heavily in making Puerto rico the most advanced in telecommunications in latin america. Just to let you know Norma DSL here is 5 MB wireline and Claro wireless broadband is up to 3 MB and Centennial is up to 4 MB and Broadband Onelink Cable company 5 -10 MB and this is Residential you could switch to business plans like centennial up to 18 MB. One thing for sure is that PRT has a Partnership with Canadian Nortel for almost 10 years most systems from PRT are Nortel and Lucent the best in the Markets. Intenet service in the D.R in reliability and speeds are non comparable to Puerto Rico or some other countries in the area like Panama, Cayman Islands, U.S-Brittish virgin Islands are way ahead of service in the D.R they always tell me that the D.R has the best communication in Latin America that is not true. Argentina, Mexico, Chile and Neighboring Puerto Rico they are way more advanced!!!!
