Migración has a new & rapid VIP plan for renovating your residency that is quite nice. You pay the normal $ 800 rd for the card plus the $ 281+pico rd for the stamps and your new residency will be ready in about a week. However, if you pay an additional $ 500 rd for the VIP plan, your new residency will be ready in around 30 minutes, give or take. Mine took about 5 minnutes! I went in around 9:00 am and left at 9:15 am with my residency in hand! This assumes that you have previously renovated with the new computer system so that you (and your) photo are in the computer. Also the new migración office (malecon, beside aqua & luz theatre) has plenty of free parking, easy access and plenty of directional signs and information booths; very modern and efficient. Quite a nice change from before.
