hey all! lots of people have posted nice things in here! I am always learning from everyone's input here on these threads and posts so thanks to everyone!
As for the security issue in the campos, I am torn on this opinion because on one end I am familiar and somewhat well known in these campos [Najayo] and maybe its divine intervention that danger has not followed me around....I think it is safe for the most part. Of course one hears horror stories at night with thieves and all, but in my 5 years that I have been traveling back and forth to this beautiful island I have not seen ONE robbery or witnessed a burglary....weird right? who knows....I agree, get to know your neighbors and make friends and you wont be bothered with....given I am very free spirited and friendly and might even be looked at as a gringo? definately a foreigner since my spanish accent and vocabulary is very different from the Dominican vocabulary, yet I am learning new things all the time.
