There are still stores on the lobby level. As you walk into the Hamaca, you'll notice a new stairway on the left -- there's a space to the left of the stairs that leads to where the three stores are -- the little shop and jewelry store are still there, as well as a new store that sells cigars and wood carvings and a few other things.
I was very impressed with the improvements to the grounds of Hamaca. While we were there last week, they emptied the smaller pool on the beach side, and it looked like they resurfaced it and were refilling it.
They removed some of the "half wall" that surrounded the bar in between the two beach side pools, which will allow better access to the bar from the new pool side. They also re-did the stairs (with a ramp added) to the left of the old beach side pool. Looks like there will also be a little patio there.
We were told that once they are finished with the outside renovations, they will start renovating the rooms beginning with the ocean side rooms.
The water was very clear last week. It was also a lot of fun walking down the public beach over the Easter weekend. There were a lot of activities going on, and it was fun to see local families enjoying their beach.
