This news release appeared on BVI News as it happens. Trustworthy. Reliable. Fast. today. Seems like they take things very serious in the British Virgin Islands..........

Woman convicted for immigration offences
A 35 year old woman from the Dominican Republic, who Prosecutors said forged two (2) BVI Immigration Entry Permit, one (1) BVI Visa and she also furnished Information to an Immigration Officer at the Terrence B Lettsome International Airport; re-appeared in the Magistrate’s Court on Friday 11th April 2008, before Senior Magistrate Mrs. Valerie Stephens to be sentenced.

She had made a previous appearance on the 28th March 2008 and pleaded “Guilty” to 3 counts of Forgery and 2 counts of Furnishing False Information. During the proceedings on the 28th March 2008, she was not represented by Counsel, but when she re-appeared on Friday 11th April 2008, she was represented by Attorney at law, Mrs. Benedicta Samuel-Richardson.

One count 4, which is furnishing false information to an Immigration Officer, the accused was sentenced to 12 months in Prison. On count 1 & 2, Forgery of a BVI Immigration Entry Permit & Forgery of a BVI Visa she was fined $1000.00 forthwith in default 3 months in prison on each count. She was reprimanded & discharged on count 3 &5, Furnishing False Information & Forgery of a BVI Immigration Entry Permit.
