I agree that there might not be an upside to the pics....my question was just why would that one be removed, since he had permission.
I too, rented a car, while there a couple of weeks ago, and didnt have a problem at all. It did, in fact feel I accomplished something by driving there. At times was scarey, but did ok. No scractches on vehicle anyway ...
Got to see lots of country side and little villages that others do not get to see. I took my co worker with me.....and she has never really seen things outside of the resort, so she was really happy to have spent a few days exploring. Maybe next time I can get her to not book an AI. Just dont think my chances are too good.

Rocky I would have to agree with you, that often things posted here do scare tourists, or first time visitors to the Domincan Republic. I have never had a problem in the few times Ive been (5 in total). In fact I have always felt respected and welcomed by the locals.
