Hummingbird feeders are hard to find here in the DR, pricey if you find them. What we do is use a plastic container, an old "tang" container that has a screw on top. We take a hot nail and make three holes two inches up from the bottom. Then using the same hot nail to make a central hole in the screw on top. Stick a 16" long wire through the lid and make a bend in it inside the lid, so as to hang it vertical. Using a red magic marker paint a faux flower around each hole. Fill it with sugar water and watch the hummingbirds come. There are many families that visit and they can get very territorial, fending off and chasing each other around. To see a little young hummingbird come and feed is amazing. We clean the feeders once a week, twice a week when it gets hot.
