In an effort to strengthen the Ibero-American identity, consolidate the culture of
Mercosur, prevent young people from abandoning the good use of the language, etc., from now on, Argentina will be using, in its internet pages, the various multilingual characters belonging to Spanish and Portuguese. Government pages will no longer be “gov.ar” (English) but “gob.ar” (Spanish). The Argentinean government has ordered to incorporate accent marks, letter ñ, the dieresis, and the cedilla. According to the article, of the 16+ millions of internet users in Argentina, half of them are under the age of 24.
IMO, this is a move in the right direction, one that all governments should take.
