Well, YOU above all do know that the people behind Sirena and other businesses are quite powerful and well connected. So, is the architects office which does most of the work for them.
I think this is being controlled directly from "up above" in Santo Domingo and the Puerto Plata town hall is being advised to oblige.
The Subsecretaria de Turismo has some influence in Coastal regions as it collects taxes on bed rooms and has a say on what can or cannot be build here and there... I'd reckon that some pencil pusher somewhere down the line did not quite get the message from "up above"... or maybe wanted to try to raise dickens as we are in an election period. Not something that ought to be expected to stop the people behind Sirena and all others interested. So. I would like to think that this will go down as only a blip in the history which I feel confident we will witness unfolding on our Malecon.

The architect which works with me in Santo Domingo has tried to get some plans or elevation renderings but to no avail. It really seem important to the power that are, to keep this as obscure as possible... I don't know if the neighbors will have any right of insight and objection... actually, I doubt it.

But so far all that's just my opinion. ... J-D.
