Berzin.... if you are not up close ...everything looks fine...but get up close to the statues and you will see they are junk...most of the statues are from dominican heros and as such were military mostly. thus they have swords often....the swords are made of wood!!!. I bet some are already broken off....
I walked around the monument last week, I didnt notice stuff crumbling.
since they did the remodel job, they have added metal statues of bulls and chickens and such stuff...dont know what the theme is supposed to be,
the statues are made of pieces of various sections of sheet metal and welding to form the shape of the animal...with gaps here and there....they did a good job of getting the correct anotomy and proportions of each animal..
I think the artist left the welding slag in place for its effect.
they do not allow vehicle to drive up any more...thus the place isnt as popular as it once was...
