Forgive me, but I don't understand why you feel the need to ask this question? You have answered it for yourself. It is up to you whether you want a relationship (on any level) with a Dominican man.
He is obviously not a sankie "per se" but who knows if he still has the mother of his baby in his life or not. That is certainly the angle I would be worried about, but who knows?
If you like the guy - have fun, like you say, keep it simple and superficial (if you can) stick to the rules - no money and enjoy!
If it is too much hassle or too many worries and doubts, cast him loose.......
but ..... in my considerable experience (!) there aren't too many of them that will be 100% perfect and stress free.
There are plenty of them about....... enjoy!
