thank you for correcting my spelling! we have a very similar word in polish - plebejusz - so i guess it must come from latin. it is a mild insult but all plebeyos get really upset about that!

i am also told that "chopa" is not a female version of "chopo". it means a woman who stays at home, something like housewife? is that so? and would that be an insult for anyone else but a feminist?
