I think Gringosabroso is asking rhetorical questions to make a point, which is both valid and effective.

If the president was doing something other than placating the press with this announcement of retirements after so much negative publicity, than he probably should be somewhat more forthcoming. Retiring a few generals to a life of relative comfort is hardly a solution to the massive problems facing the military.

By answering questions before they are asked, a leader can demonstrate the level of transparency that is needed by any effective government in a true democracy.

And incidently, asking questions is a good way to stimulate positive critical thinking. One does not have to get the answers for the questions to be beneficial. Gringosabrosos' questions obviously made some of us think about what was really happening with these retirements and the situation that lead to them.
