I, too, can possibly attribute this injury to the stress put on the area due to the greater muscle mass from the steroids. I hope for the best, since he is too young to have to retire...
As for the comment about wishing it on him, I really do not think anyone really wishes bad things for others, even those from the hated Yankees...
As to the importance of this in the world today....not much...in reality...

It would make sense that an inordinate increase in strength would put more stress on a joint causing a breakdown. Plus, since 2000 - and up until last year - he's played in all but 34 regular season games, then add in another 30 playoff games (most of which he really didn't show up for anyway...). All the practice, BP, etc.
There aren't many motions in baseball that are 'natural'. Hitting, and especially throwing, are violent in a kinetic sense.
No ill will on my part intended. I'm wishing he was out of the news is all. Just want the games to count and the circus(es) to end.
