What exactly would you be losing, and is it really a loss? If this alpha-male competition is ego-driven, then expect to wallow in their mud. They will bring you down to their level, you will not bring them up to yours.
If this is where you want to be, then fine. But don't expect anyone here to share your enthusiasm or applaud your efforts. They seem misguided to say the least.
