Mariel, remember that from Cabo Rojo you drive about 20 minutes to La Cueva, this road is not paved but is passable and any vehicle can do it, for this you don't need 4WD, but to get from La Cueva to BDLA you do need a 4WD or take the boat. We took a boat, which I recommend since the boat trip is awesome and it only takes about 15 minutes and you don't go into open waters, for those scary cats like me.
