You obviously don't live in a border state. Otherwise you'd know that this statement couldn't be more incorrect. An extremely high number of individuals are deported every year simply because they are here illegally. In fact, they likely outnumber those who are deported because of criminal records.

Use this as a frame of reference. In 2004, Homeland Security made it a goal to deport 460,000 illegal immigrants. Of that number, only 80,000 were known to have criminal records.

I recently read about a raid on a clothing factory where 400 illegal immigrants were detained and started upon deportation procedures. These people didn't have criminal records. But they were deported.
