I understand that you think the child would have a better life in the U.S. in terms of education, health care, etc. but if this woman loves her child, no amount of convincing will likely work because she probably loves her child and doesn’t want him or her living in another country away from her. You have to respect that no matter whether you think the child will be better off or not. If your husband or his family is having a hard time seeing the child, why not instead go to court and get a visitation system set-up whereby she is obligated to allow joint custody or visitation with your husband and his family. Think of the child too and whether or not you will be uprooting an otherwise happy kid. If your husband continues to send child support, there is no reason the child cannot have a better standard of living than many children do in the Dominican Republic (as long as the money is going to better the child and not the mother as is sometimes the case).
