I have no experience in online payments in the DR, but up till now have been running 3 very succesful internet businesses in Europe. We did accept Paypal for a long time and were relatively happy with them, but do no longer accept them as payment method, simply because they are all about protecting the buyer and not the seller. If a buyer makes a complaint PP will freeze your account and pay back the buyer, unless you can prove you have been completely correct.

Some examples: a buyers puts in a claim with PP that he did not receive the goods. We had sent it by UPS, but they passed it onto another company who did not ask for a signature on delivery. PP refunded the money. Another buyer claimed the goods he received were not the correct ones and that he shipped them back to us. He actually send us an empty box, but could prove he had sent a shipment to us. PP refunded him the total amount of 3,000 €.

So, be careful with Paypal, they are great for transactions between individuals, but not for professional use.

Anyway, great thread here, as I intend to move to the DR soon, and continue my businesses over there.
