Thanks for your help everyone! I haven't bought my ticket yet, but was going to see if I could get away with the shorter layover time, which most seem to think I can't so I'm not going to take my chances. I will be stressed enough and excited enough without worrying about if I'm going to miss my connecting flight.
You're right, 3 hours won't really feel like 3 hours. I'd definitely rather be safe than sorry
