What was the turn out like? 1000, 5000, 10 000+??? Just Curious, had I been in the country, definately would have gone. As far as support goes, it is good, I'm sure there was equal support for the cause as for the music. Would be nice to see more public outcry over important issues.
As for facebook, I guess 36000 is pretty big for a group/cause - especially a quasi-political one (I say quasi, because the music factor distracts one from the cause). There are a couple of others that are up there, there are about 36000 fans of the Dominican Republic, and close to the same amount for "reanumos 1 000 000 de dominicanos en facebook".
Another thing I have noticed, I have a page with 5000 people on it, so pretty much anything going on Facebook DR related will make it my way, is that in the past week or so there have been a good number of groups/pages taking aim at issues, such as corruption, blackouts ect. If facebook helped get Obama elected, it could definately help mobilize people towards common causes, even if it is mainly the middle/upper class youth, it could branch out. Will be interesting to watch.
