You can rent a car from national for as low as @$185 per week for a Chevy Swing. A Nissan Centra is about $225 per week. I rent them twice a year from the Aeropuerto Luperon in Puerto Plata. The trick is to make your reservation in advance in the US. At one time you prepaid, but not now. One other thing you do not have to take the insurance if you pay with Visa or American Express.
