Default Aeromar : Lineas Aereas (Chopas) Dominicanas

In the previous "Viva" post someone had the nerve to claim that Aeromar European Adventure will be a lasting affair that will dethrone Air France, Air Europa, Iberia, etc...

Aeromar, unlike all those airlines you mentioned (Queen Air, Apa, Air Atlantic...) might not be headed towards immediate doom. Good luck, coupled with lots of demand in the JFK-SDQ/JFK-STI/MIA-SDQ, have been the ONLY reason Aeromar is still alive. It might probably continue, and Amen if they do. Chopos also fly and they need some sort of replacement for Dominicana de Aviacion.

However, who are we all kidding!? One thing is that Aeromar, like carros publicos and OMSA, is a necessary mediocrity, but another is to claim that it will dethrone traditional European carriers. I mean, a mere little carrier that can boast--at most--a dreadful palm-tree and Iceland's "AT", will not depose years of Air Europe, centuries of Air France, and the much-more improved Iberia.

So Aeromar to Europe? The new prostitute shuttle to Spain, if you ask me. But don't expect lots of tourists. With a strong Euro and a need for security NO European travel agent will dare to put an European ant on a Dominican carrier. That's what Volare, Iberworld, and other respectable (and not too expensive) charter companies do--fly tourists. Not Aeromar.

The future of Aeromar according to moi? The opium of the traveling chopo until a new, revamped Lufthansa-operated Dominicana de Aviacion comes along. The Dominican get a kick for nostalgia and traditional things. Dominicana de Aviacion, for all its past wrong doings, has been, is, and shall be "Nuestra Linea Bandera Nacional." But, like I said, until the airline is semi-privatized (à la Iberia) poor Dominicans traveling to and from JFK and MIA will have to fly the Icelandish crafts with the ugly paint job. (I swear, it's a horrid pity to see those things. Couldn't you have come up with something more traditional/sober!? Even the Falcon Air 727s were prettier. But on the other hand, chopos like that colourful rubbishy flair... makes them feel balmy inside, I reckon).

So there you have it. Lots of lasting mediocrity until the next second tier airline comes along. No success in Europe. Trust me, we shall not fly that thing. I mean everytime on my way home through Kennedy or Miami I see that embarassing excuse of an airline, and I get chills from thinking that my fellow American Airlines passangers might know I have some blood from the same people that evented the flying palm with flashy hues. Please, leave that shame for Haitians or something. As Peruvians would say: que cholada.

Amory, you are absolutely right.

These planes looks ridiculous, oh my God. Now, when we are in the 21st century and all airlines use modern schemes, our Aeromar looks like an african paint. This is sad, the quality of the paint is horrible. Even though people from BQ calls it national airline, you know I laugh! It is not, it is an adventure to laundry some money. Planes are from Iceland, majority of crew are from I don't know where. In all systems BQ's flights are marked like "Operated by Icelandair", so what is it?

I was talking here about Europe before, show me a single person who will chose unknown airline in Europe. Now when aviatravel is dangerous people won't ride some planes owned by Icelandair, operated by Aeromar etc. British will use Britannia, Air Tours. Germans have LTU, Happag LLoyd, Condor. Italians will fly only on Air Europe and Lauda, do you realize : BQ in Zurich? First of all, what makes them think that they can offer cheaper fares? I see that their stuff is extremely unprofessional, like everybody here. We prefer to see ex-limpia bota in government than to educate people to work where they must. In Europe every travel agency has its relations with airlines.

Once the war with Iraq started let's organize a funeral for Aeromar. I know that BQ adores delays, soon the cause for delays will disappear

I want to know what gives you the right to judge or express your degrading racist opinions on an airline that has struggled to survive for the past 35 years? It has had to go through hell and back to be where it is today. So you don't like the paint scheme, that is fine, but to accuse it of laundering money? Do you know what you are saying? When was the last time you flew on BQ? Let me tell you somenthing about the Icelandics and Falcon air. Please remember that Dominican Republic is in Category II and therefore cannot operate their own aircraft and this is why they need to operate in this manner. About Europe, BQ had a deal tour operators for some charters but it did not get off the ground beacause the spanish carrieres boycotted their entrance. Before you make any more remarks that show how ignorant both of you are, why don't you do your homework and find out that Aeromar is a family owned company started and owned by the same man 35 years ago and has all of sons working there. Please respond to my comment in an intelligent manner.

Well, I don't have to do mu home work. I left Aviation University a long time ago. Everyone is free to express their opinions about everything they think. Whe people say that AA is mierda you don't fight them, so learn to accept criticism.

Amory Blaine and Aviastar: I'm not an expert in the airline industry nor do I care whether Aeromar exists or not, but really...what is your problem? Do you have a problem with poor dominicans? Where do you get off calling dominicans who fly to Europe prostitutes, chopos, etc... Maybe some of them are, but how's that your f...ng problem? If any of you are Dominicans then you're that sorry type of Dominican who think their sh.. doesn't stink...AND...if you're European then shut the f up and go take a bath and shave those hairy legs. Believe me you can't impress anybody in here...and exactly what was the point of your comments?

I gotta change my name to ChopoDefender...

the fact is that I didn't insult anybody, show me among my lines words: prostitute, chops or something like that. If you are accusing me , be ready to get your facts.

Aviastar: I lumped you in with Amory, because even though in your post you didn't specifically called dominicans chopos and prostitutes you did agree with everything he/she said, thus in my eyes you're guilty too. Sorry, but that's how I feel.
