That really interesting, so interesting that the Operations manager in Newark is curious about it?

For that short period do you think CAL is going to pull the "sleeper" seats, remove Business or First (The 77's are configured for three class)

This makes no sense at all. You have a 300 seat 767 they (CAL) don't fill, it has huge weight reserves, then you replace it with a 400 seat 777?

Well, ask them. On FEB 13 and FEB 14 they use 777 for EWR SDQ EWR flights. They don't have to pull the sleeper seats, they'll fly with them. Who had told you that 767-400 is not filled? Anyway, 777 has no 400 seats

If you think that 777-200 has 400 seats - this forum is not for you, CO has 283 seats in B 777 . They've got Business First and Economy class ONLY! Remember that CO offers BusinessFirst on SDQ EWR SDQ, so they don't have to remove seats.
they have 48 seats in BusinessFirst and 235 in Economy.
For your information B 767-400 has 35 in BusinessFirst and 200 in Economy.

Remember, we are talking about Continental Airlines, not Tower Airlines, that carrier would have 500 seats in B 764

I have seen the 777 lots of time in the DR. What's wrong with that? AA is forced to take delivery of two additional 777 that they don't need right now, so they need to put them on the air. NYC-SDQ is a very popular route and that's why the use the AB6 which is a little older but used to be the 777 11 years ago, so I really don't see the problem on why using that airplane on the route. 777 is mainly used for trasatlantic and deep south american flights (not to mention ASIA because is a different configuration) which flight times are throughout the night. Are you going to leave the airplane doing nothing during the day? I guess not....

Btw, I used an AA example, but same rules apply to CO.

American cannot delay Boeings due in 2003

American Airlines will take delivery of 11 Boeing jets this year that it doesn't need and can't afford after the airline had done all it could to persuade Boeing to allow it to put off taking the planes, without success.
Last year Boeing already agreed with American to postpone deliveries of 34 planes due in 2003, 2004 and 2005. This number included 8 aircraft due for delivery this year.
