Default Dominicana de Aviación

Everyone expects modern aircraft, cheep prices and superb service. What else would you suggest and advice to top management for the start up and successfull operation of CDA?

Would anyone would work there and in which department?

Actually there are no plans to reinstall DO, so what are we talking about? LH is not interested in it, these are only false rumors. Why do they have to pay DO's debts if they can create a new airline. After Swissair's expirience when they started to buy other airlines, today big airlines are concerned about their own operations. LH must defeat first their competitors - low coast european airlines that will defend LH and other carriers in 5 years from now. Ryanair will become the biggest european carrier by the end of next year, so what do you expect? Nobody knows what will happen tomorrow in aviation industry.

Why do I say about DO that it will never survive, take a look at any state owned company in Dom Rep, do you need more facts? I prefer that Aeromar will become country's national carrier, because at least there they care about airline. Compania Dominicana de Aviacion will care only about its people who will run it, and they'll be so far from aviation, as always: PANAS y PRIMOS de analfabetisado partido que maneja el pais ahora. Esntonces que Ustedes esperan de una aerolinea que se va a crear solo para meter sus panas a trabajar alla???????

Aviastar!!

I've got to give you some credit for at least not bombarding Aeromar with negative comments.

I do agree with your statement: If CDA is lead by the DO government it will never be sucessful. I will be used to favor those who are in power.

SURVIVE: Of course it can. DO Government uses the people's money.

SUCESSFUL: Never

And one more thing. What is this all about, communist nostalgy or what? Like let's create national airline that will belong to all of us, come on! Socialist property proved that it is useless, it will never progress becuase there is nobody who cares. When it is yours you will fight for it, when it is "our" well, you know what happens in that case.

Default Dominicana 1995

According to the World Aviation Directory, in 1994 Dominicana de Aviacion had three aircraft and 700 employees. That's right, 700! For this airline to have any chance in reorganization, the government would have to sell the name and the flag and otherwise keep it's greasy palms off. But since when is anyone in the Dominican government interested in anything that won't line their own pockets or enhance their own political power??? Accordingly, I agree, the airline is deader than a doorknob.

Default Privatization of CDA

According to law 149-97 CDA will have to be privatized and will not be run by the government. So there is hope. CDA is the flagg carrier which means CDA has many advantages in landing rights over the Viva's, Lan's and Aeromar's of this world. One can only believe when one see it happen. In case it happens, what would you advice to the new top management of CDA?

Dominicana440, I'm assuming you work for Lufthansa in some capacity?

If it was100% private, managed and run by an experinced existing airline, then it would stand a chance.

Just give the DR another JetBlue and I will be very happy...
