TRAVERSE CITY, Mich.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 15, 2003--Viva International, Inc. (OTCBB: VIVI - News) today announced that an L-1011-50 utilized subject to a financial agreement with Tri-Star Capital, Ltd , was moved from Tucson, Arizona to Cochabamba, Bolivia on July 13, 2003 to complete appropriate retrofitting prior to aircraft "air-worthiness" testing. The aircraft is to be used in the operations of Northeast Bolivian Airlines a subsidiary of Viva.
Robert E. Scott, CEO and Chairman of the Board of Viva International, made the announcement noting: "We completed all required maintenance work in Arizona. We must now carry out the final preparations in Bolivia, where upon completion we will seek "air-worthiness" testing. Upon completion of this testing we anticipate receiving governmental approval from Bolivia and accordingly, to be able to add this aircraft to the Northeast Bolivian certificate. The plane departed Arizona Sunday and arrived in Cochabamba approximately 8 and 1/2 hours later. I have received favorable reports from Captain Greene regarding the aircraft's performance".

Scott also noted that this development was made possible due to private financing that he helped arrange. The financing is entirely related to the aircraft only and does not include any issuance of common or preferred stock.

Scott indicated that the Bolivian Aeronautical Authority has already reviewed the operations and maintenance procedure manuals and has indicated some minor corrections that are required. "We are currently making those revisions.

The certification process requires that countries where the aircraft will fly certify that the plane is in compliance with each country's requirements for flight-worthiness." The certification process usually takes a minimum of one months' time, although Viva declined to put a specific expectation on when it expects to receive its certification. Further plans for service to and from Bolivia will be announced soon after certification.

Viva International, Inc., based in Traverse City, Michigan, is the holding company of Viva Airlines, Inc., a new consumer airline that is expected to help fill the gap in the Caribbean air travel market and the Caribbean to USA air travel market. Viva expects to launch its service later this summer with an inaugural flight from United States to the Dominican Republic. Viva Airlines is the only flag-carrying airline of the Dominican Republic.

Northeast Bolivian Airlines obtains to giant airship the company Northeast Bolivian Airlines (NEBA) tries to return with more force to the field of national aviation after to have obtained a gigantic airship that will serve to him to retake the aerocomerciales services, national as much international. The general manager of the company, Jose Raul Bolivar Montalvo, explained that the primary target of the airline is to operate within the national territory and that in a future services towards Central America and Europe through the subcontract will offer system. "At the moment the proceedings of recertification of the airline company are being made so that we return to begin to operate internationally in domestic flights and", it indicated Bolivar Montalvo. The airship has capacity to transport 300 passengers and 40 tons of cargo. 272 seats are destined for the tourist class (distributed in two seats lateral and to the five power stations), whereas 28 spaces are for the section of first class. In addition, the interior of the airship has four projectors of video and one ten of channels of music in the systems of CD and DVD. The airplane, that is in Cochabamba in the track of the old airport, is a Lockheed L-1011-50 and was acquired by means of operative leasing to the company Fly Star Group.
Montalvo indicated that the projects that the management of the airline handles are framed in not offering a disloyal competition to the other companies that operate in the national market. "We are a company of 32 years of operation in Bolivia. We did not look for competition with the LAB, is more we have had some conversations with Mr. Asbún (president of the directory of the Bolivian Aerial Lloyd), to be able to fly some routes ", asserted the manager to them. Traditionally NEBA operated with the service of load and transport of passengers by means of airplanes of little capacity. In 1992, through a Boeing 707, it began to transport load to Miami and other countries of the area. It is in the middle of the decade of the 90 that the Aeronautic Main directorate Civil (DGAC), due to political pressures and to the change of government, decides to retire the permission of international operation. At the present time, the aerocomercial company comes making the proceedings from recertification to operate in the main airways of the country. In order to fulfill this objective, the management of this company must planned to acquire, in the next months, four airships more.
Aerial details the airship arrived coming from Tucson, Arizona, through an operative leasing to the aerial company Fly Star Group. The system of operative leasing will allow the national company to only pay the respective rents when the airship is in air services. Northeast Bolivian Airlines, if it manages to obtain his recertification, will be able to offer a hundred jobs. The personnel who work in the company will be Bolivian. Periodically the technicians of Fly Star Group will dictate to advanced training courses and update as much to pilots, assistants, flight engineers and mechanics

No it wasn't. Remember, we're talking about Northeast Bolivian Airlines here.

Now, if we were talking about Southcentral Bolivian Airlines or Northwest Paraguayan Airlines, we would take it seriously. Or even Southwest East Timor Airlines. But everyone knows that we were never going to have an interesting, intelligent, useful thread about Northeast Bolivian Airlines!

XanaduRanch 07-30-2003 04:01 PM

Personally I like Southwest East Timor Airlines

They get all their flight attendants from Bali, with the spare outfits from Singapore Air. What a great combination! Maybe we can get some Malaysian or Indonesian hostesses on Bolivian Air. Now that's service!
