Arriving in Santo Domingo

Hello!

I will be flying into Santo Domingo on Wednesday, August 20th which (I believe) is the day that the Pan Am games end. I was just wondering how crazy things will be at the airport, and whether I should plan on any significant delays because I have arranged for a ride to pick me up. Any info would be appreciated as this will be the first time I've entered the DR alone!!!

They end on the 17th and in any case I arrived the day they began and the line at immigration was exactly 2 people ahead of me.

Underwhelming to say the least.

I came and went in the middle. Getting in was easy. Thanks to DR1 I knew how to buy tourist card, see customs cambio for money and choose Taxi. Fast and smooth.

Getting out the lines were long. I needed almost the whole 2 hours early at the airport. I did have time for one last DR meal in the cafeteria down stairs, and a little shopping. I met other people who had missed there planes by not being early.
