News about Air Transat and the new terminal "B" at PUJ
In 2003 many of the sun destinations saw a recovery in tourism, traffic rose by 14% in Cuba, 7% in Mexico and 21% in DR, Leading the pack with 46% more vacationers is PUJ.
The new T-B to accomodate its growth, the punta cana airport is under renovation to rapidly expand facilities ,5 additional wide-bodies parking stands have been completed and the check-in facilities in the mains terminal will be expanded to accomodate more check-in counters.
Opening in february 2004, will be Terminal "B" a fully enclosed air-conditioned check-in facilities that will double the capacity of both check-in counters and gates,Most departures to north america will take place from T-B and a aplication for the US preclearance facilities has been made.
Until the new terminal opens operations at PUJ WILL CONTINUE TO BE VERY CONGESTED,however, while we look forward to a more user and friendly terminal in 2004 and see the enhancements as they progres, we need to ensure that our operations runs smoothly, To make sure this happens ground service is exploring offside check-in at two of the main hotels, to minimize wait times and congestion.
We are looking forward to the new PUJ terminal as this stations continues to growth in popularity, keep yor eyes on the new punta cana terminal.
