American Airlines JFK to POP

Last night AA dropped there prices from JFK to POP by approx. $100.00. The dates I checked were 1/23/04 to 1/31/04 and 5/15/04 - 5/23/04 (for our anniversary trip). Prices went from $537.00 to $ 440.00.
Fares are not a blow out bargin, but, as they say "it's all relative!!"

Over the last couple of years, I dont think I have ever paid more than $400 for that flight so $440 seems a little steep. I haven't checked the fares lately but I guess they have gone up. Maybe more people are travelling and the flights are filling quicker? I am due for a trip soon, I think it's time to use FF miles.

I was "forced" to use FF miles for our 1/23/04 trip as it appeared fares were only going up from the $537.00 level. One thing AA has done, is to replace the Airbus A300-600 with the smaller Boeing 757 on all there POP routes.

John-Im going on the 10th of Jan. on Cont. and I paid under 400.Going to POP and returning from Sto. Dom. and that change is included in the price. JOHN

Wait another week or so the prices will go down for late January they always do.

John, I checked the prices for Cont. for my dates 1/23 - 1/30 and I got a price of $497.90. I guess the fares have gone North since you booked your trip.

If you are not real picky on your dates try www.cheapflights.com. I have found fairs from DC to Pop as low as 250 US and from NY to Pop as low as 120 US. It is random but have never seen them any higher than 450 US for either. Then again they select the dates... so you either travel on those dates or you do not.

Hubby and Best Friend has come several times this year and the cheapest ticket we have gotten off of aa.com from Wash DC to Pop is $452 US and the maximum we spent is $660. I guess it all really depends on when you are flying. I tend to find the best fares at like 6am...then when I search again at 9am they have all jumped up a hundred bucks or so.

Another thing I have been doing lately is a combination of travelzoo and aa netsaver specials. If you do not mind traveling on a weekday, netsaaver normally always has either MIA to POP or MIA to STI from $99 - $169 round trip the week before the trip and travelzoo.com has been offering r/t tickets from Washington, Newark or New York to Miami for $99 r/t or less normally every week.

If anyone is interested I can get a RT incl taxes for $399 from JFK to POP. These tickets also have NO fee to make date changes.
