Migration modernizes travel check points
Migration authorities are applying a new passenger check point control system
that consists in photographing all North American travelers that enter the
country with a birth certificate and tourist card and other documents, with the
purpose of preventing the illegal aliens from departing the country and going to
the United States. Migration director Miguel Vasquez Escoto said that each of
the country’s international airports now have photo cameras that will be used
when North American citizens arrive to the country with only a birth certificate
and tourist card in order to prevent those documents to be used “in an irregular
manner”. Vasquez Escoto explained that since these documents do not have picture
IDs they are apt for being used by other persons that wish to illegally travel
to the Untied States by pretending that they are the true owner of the
documents; now with the installation of the new system, such actions will not be
an option. The director added that now migrat!
ion personnel stationed at airports and maritime ports will be able to use
modern computerized equipment that will have a database storing the photograph
of passengers that enter the country without picture identification on their
travel documents, in this case, the birth certificates used to enter the
Dominican Republic. Vasquez said that this type of illegal action was mostly
done by using the birth certificates of minors that entered the country with
only an American birth certificate and once inside, was then used by another
person illegally. The director indicated that the new system is nationally
interconnected with every airport and docking terminal in the country and that
migration personnel has been fully equipped and trained to use the new methods
A VERY GOOD NEWS!!
