The runway in STI airport will be legthened

I read a few days ago that the runway in Santiago's International airport will be longer.
They are already in the conversation with the owners of the land needed for that.

STI's runway is around 8,600ft long. The airport president said it's not enough for a 747 to take of for Europe.
Let me tell you something Mr Founder, you are right!!!

That's a very good new. They probably will make 10,000' long, I hope so, so we can see all kind of planes in STI.
Like AA 777-200 and CO 767-400.

The only thing I don't understand, why didn't they build a taxiway???

The same in POP and PUJ, those airports have a good traffic and they don't have taxiways, why???
Why only SDQ has one???
Why in DR the build the airports without taxiways???

Leí unos días atrás, que la pista del aeropuerto internacional de Santiago será más larga.
Los propietarios/administradores del aeropuerto están ya en conversaciones con los propietarios de los terrenos necesarios para esto.

Esa es una muy buena noticia, probablemente la extederán a 10,000 pies, eso espero.
Así podremos ver en Santiago los 777-200 de AA o los 767-400 de CO.
Lo único que no entiendo, porqué no construyeron una pista de rodaje/paseo-carreteo???

Lo mismo pasa en El Gregorio Luperón de Puerto Plata y en Punta Cana. Son aeropuerto con un buen tráfico de aeronaves y no tiene esta pista de rodaje/paseo-carreteo.
¿Por qué?
¿Por qué solo Las Américas tiene una?
¿Por qué en Rep. Dom. construyen aeropuertos sin pista de rodaje/paseo-carreteo?

at STI can land a B747 and it is not needed to fly with a B747 to europe a B777 or a B747 can land at STI also if you want to Europe use Airbus A330 or B767's

SAN ISIDRO tiene un taxiway, antes no era completo, pero segun vi un mapa del aeropuerto veo que lo completaron, cuando la vez aquella que usaron el taxi como pista, es de cabecera a cabecera, como el de las americas.

Punta Cana tiene un taxi completo a pista 09, y un taxiway a medias a la cabecera 27.

Herrera tine un taxiway, pero al aver tantos aviones y poc espacio, parte de ese taxiway que esta agregado a la rampa lo utilizan como parqueo, y por eso las naves tienen que hacer el rodaje como ejemplo, puerto plata.

Puerto plata por su nivel de trafico, y como tercer aeropuerto en nivel de trafico del pais, devieran por lo menos, completarle el taxi hacia la cabecera 08, que esta a medias.

asi como la romana, que tiene una sola salida de la rampa a la pista, en el caso de santiago, yo vi el proyecto que presento el señor bermudez, y anuncio hecho tambien por el señor founder.

ellos recientemente inauguraron una zona comercial, donde ay un mirador a rampa y pista, parecido como el de las americas, donde estaba wendys, y ahora ellos estan trabajando en lo que es el alargamiento de la pista, para antes de finalizar el año, pudiera ser verano, ellos se proponen instalar puentes de abordajes (gates), y aunque esto aun lo tienen en los planes, pero no dan fecha de eso, me imajino que luego seria la construccion del taxiway.

seria bueno que punta cana completara el poquitico de taxi que le falta para llegar a la cabecera 27, ya lo tendria completo, la romana para su movimiento es medio incomodo, porque por lo menos sti, pop tienen dos salidas a pista, LRM solo tiene uno, pero hmmm ellos son lo que saben, quizas lo hagan pronto.

A boeing 747 and a Boeing 777 can land at STI, but they can't take off for a long haul flight.

They can for example, from STI to JFK, not to Europe.

I don't know if STI is having tourists flying into now.
But by what I read, Mr Founder said that the planes taking off to Europe can't doit non stop from STI.
Also, once, my father told me he saw a Boeing 747 parked on the ramp at STI and a security guard told him it was there because it brought tourists from Europe.

But I'm not sure about it.

Yes if i am right there were 2 B747's (Air Atlanta) parked for flights from Europe to Punta Cana. Actually these aircrafts were also planned to be used for Aeromar (STI/SDQ to JFK), but when Aeromar ceased operations these B747 were their just parked because no space at PUJ.

Thats the reasons why the aircrafts were parked at STI. it is 600$ a night of each aircraft (B747).

The airplanes ferried from PUJ because they were to spend couple of days at PUJ and there was no ramp space so they ferried in and out with fuel and payload only for the local trip.
