Aa A300
By what I read, AA is going to get rid of their Airbus A300, because they have no commonality with others AA aircrafts, also on the NY Times says by september they will only have 5 types of aircraft.
And it's known that the A300 mostly fly to the caribbean, because of cargo an passenger reasons. So probably these are going to be the last years seeing those A300 at SDQ, STI, etc...
And probably we gonna be seeing more 777's, 763's and 757's flying into D.R.
Also they'll get rid of their Boeing 767-200(Not flying to D.R.)
The A300 it's suppose to be out of the fleet between 2008 and 2012.
So, finally!!! Lol.
We gonna have MORE ROOM, different planes...!!!

To me, the A300 was fantastic when it was introduced almost 20 years ago on the SDQ route. Two aisles, big overhead bins and lots of cargo space - a huge improvement over the old 727s. With an upgrade to the entertainment system, I'm sure it could still be cost competitive but for the parts issue. And, then, there was Flight 587.

am sure a A300 is best suited for cariben routes than any other planes why
250 passanger 4000 miles but to dr is only 1300something miles form JFK
this means less fuel weight but more cargo express and AA cliper cargo
meaning more profit
767-300 are good too but can't handle as much cargo as the 300
777 hold 370 peeps good only for high season or reduce daily frligh to 2 in 777
Engines 2 GE CF6-80C2A5 or 2 Pratt & Whitney PW4158 turbofans
Cruising Speed 600
Passengers 250-375
Range 4100
Span 147ft 1in
Length 177ft 5in
Height 54ft 3in
Weight 378,530
Built 525 (still in production)
Final Production N/A
Mesurements refer to A300-600
go airbus

I like better the Boeing 777-200ER, even when it's known it isn't the best for the short flight.
And the Boeing 767-400ER, I really like that airplane, I flew on it once from EWR to SDQ and it was the most powerful take off I have ever experienced.
The point it's they'll (AA) have to figure out what airplane will sustitute the Airbus A300, many people believe, the new Boeing 7E7...
So do you think we'll see 7E7's at Las Américas Int'l???

Can you post a link??
Hi Flakko.
Can you post a link to that article in the NY Times.
From what I know AA is not planning on retiring their Airbuses due to the fact that they are a TRUE work-horse for them. The D.R. is the most frequented AA Airbus destination in the caribbean.
Thanks.

I'm not saying it's the most powerful at all.
I said it's the most powerful I have ever experienced and not comparing it with the Airbus A300, I've flown on that one too, but in my opinion the Boeing 767-400ER had a more powerful take off.
The one I flew was almost full of pax, but because of the distance it was about to fligh, I know the fuel amount wasn't huge!!!
I've also flown from STI to JFK on a Boeing 757-200, full of pax and the STI's runway is only like 8,600ft long, so they have to accelerate with the brakes set and then star the take off, but not even that one was that great.
And from LGA to IAH on a 737-800, the same, LGA's runways are only like 7,000ft long, the have to do the same procedure, but I didn't feel the same as on the 764.
And, maybe we can spot together one day, so you can show me, but I never mentioned the 767-400ER had a more powerful t.o. than the A300-600, in this case.
Además, por qué dices que ha sido un desastre???
Porque solo Delta y Continental lo tienen???
And what I want is that, new planes flying into Dominican Republic, not those rejected from another countries and routes.

I wish AA would retire the A300 earlier than 2008. I hate that airplane. And I hate the fact that they use it most to the D.R.
