Talking Future AA Fares!!

I check the AA web site daily for fare changes. I booked 10 tickets (so far) from JFK to POP for Oct. 2 to Oct. 9 for my daughters wedding at a fare of $460.00 less 10%. Today those same flights are $385.10. It seems many fares to the Dominican Republic have been reduced today!! If you are thinking about an upcoming trip I would suggest you check the fares soon as they rise and fall like the tides!!
John
P.S. Sure hope I can get a credit on my 10 tickets!!!!

Provided you meet the terms of the current $389 fare they will issue a credit good for a year for the difference. This is called a rollover and further emphasizes for those who fly more than once a year, to buy your ticket to ensure availability then if the price drops you can get a credit. You cannot get a credit if they offer a lower fare and your fare is not on the same basis but by and large rollovers are there for the asking.

Thanks for the info Rick! We usually make at least three trips a year, however some of the people I bought tickets for don't fly very often. Do you know if the vouchers are transferable? I will call AA Group sales Monday morning as they are not open on weekends.

No, they are in the name of the person on the ticket. maybe you can make a case if you personally paid for all 10 of them though. Don't hold your breath. OTOH for less than $30 a ticket they may prefer to do one refund of $300 than 10 puny little refunds, so ask.

I spoke to the people at "AA Group Sales" as the reservations are for a wedding party. The difference in price is credited to the card the tickets were charged on (which is mine). AA is going to give me a credit of about $650.00 for the nine tickets I have booked so far! VERY NICE!!!

John,
Thats great! I had an experience once where I booked a flight through AA. About a week later, I logged onto the website and was annoyed to see the same fare offered for $43 less than I had paid. Anyway, I figured I would take a stab at getting the new fare so I called AA and the woman who answered rebooked my flight at the new fare and sent me a $43 voucher to apply to a future ticket. Your story is much better but this is just another example of why I like American Airlines. Congratulations to your daughter. I'll bet it will be a great wedding.
