Dumb question

I am almost embarrased to ask, but here it goes, I have a reservation with Jet Blue leaving SDQ on a Sunday at 1:50 am arriving at JFK at 5:35 am. Here is the dumb question, Does the departure time mean that I have to leave for the airport at, lets say 10:30 pm Saturday night? (I will be staying about an hour away from the airport), then I would arrive in NY the morning (early) of Sunday.

Could someone be nice enough to tell me if my assumption is right or wrong? The more I think about it the dumber I feel...

Yes I would want to get there around midnight, if it was me.
