How about an update on delta (SDQ-JFK)?
Ok guys, the moment of truth is coming near, what is going on with delta airlines? It is all on schedule? Will we see the delta land in SDQ on 1st of june?
Can anyone tell me about the availability on delta return flight on the 2nd? I may fly non-rev. Buddy pass.
Thanks in advance.

I am actually flying out on June 26th from JFK using my miles.
I know for a fact that the weekend of the 5th and 12th are available for FF miles, thus I would assume they are also available for buddy passes as well.

Was told Atlanta-Santo Domingo is next on the Delta drawing board for flights to the DR.

Really? Tell me dolores, what are your sources? If this is true, then I will be the happiest man in santiago. SDQ-JFK makes my life very easy but a non-stop to atlanta will make my honeymoon forever. Getting to atlanta from DR is a Bit*h. It costs more to fly to atlanta from here than to fly JFK-europe. Now with delta, I will be able to go to USA at will (for very cheap). My family works for delta and I get discount buddy passes. By the way, why did I have to pay close to 70 dollars in taxes upon departure from STI in american airlines buddy-pass ticket at the airport ticket counter? I mean, the when you purchase the ticket, it includes all the taxes so why was that added tax put on later upon boarding the plane? Would I have to pay the same amount on delta as well in addition to already taxed ticket?

I just purchased sdq-jfk (06/08-06/20) for $374. They are offering this fare through 05/31. If the flight originates from jfk the web fare was $345. Better than $440 that AA was offering.

I wish, I hope. I live in Atlanta. I've heard ATL-SDQ on the drawing board as well. That would be beautiful. I have access to buddy passes as well, but don't mind paying for a direct flight.
I HATE connecting flights!!!!!!! You're right. ATL to DR is a bitch. The hoops you must jump through to pull it off...if people only knew. Miami is a complete waste of time. Flying into NYC sucks, as most flights are into Laguardia, not JFK.
Delta has a ways to go before they challenge AA. What's the deal with them only having one flight time anyway? What's the point? I hope they put more of an effort into this market.
JetBlue will be more of a player in this market, at least initially. They offer more flights and destinations than Delta, and cheaper regular fares than AA, Continental, and USAir.

I hope this comes into fruition!
ATL-SDQ non-stop would be lovely! I would go twice a month if this route became reality. With me living in a lofty in downtown ATL I can hop on the MARTA ( Metro Rail for all non-ATL knowing people ) and be at the airport in no time! I'm going to the DR this weekend for a week and I'm stopping in Miami for memorial day saturday then flying out the next day on sunday moring to the DR (because of a cheaper deal on airtran and stoppign in miami to chill meet up with my 9 amigos who are coming with me!), not so bad but I wish sometimes I could lfy straight into the DR! Come on Delta.. You Can Do It! Hey Tone Loc how often do you visit The Dominican Republic?

I've been three times so far this year. Headed back for July 4th.
With a decent non-stop ATL- RD fare, I'd probably go maybe once a month or so. It would depend on if they flew into other cities as well as their flight schedule. Got other places to see on the island, and that Caribe Tour ride, while easy and cheap, sucks time on a short weekend getaway.
I work by Centennial Park. I leave from work, jump on MARTA, straight to the airport. Coming back, catch MARTA back to my car at the office. It's become a routine.
