[quote=travelling]Last year there were less sell offs as the Tour operators were trying to take back contol of their pricing from the sell off agencies and the consumer and stop operating at a loss. This is why some departure dates actually had the prices go up instead of down at the last minute. In previous years, too many people were waiting to book until the last minute hoping to get the cheapest deal possible.QUOTE]
Greetings from Nova Scotia.
My only problem with this statement is that two of the largest discounting agencies in the business (bricks & mortar or on-line) are
www.selloffvacations.com and
www.sunholidays.ca Both of these agencies are owned by First Choice PLC which also owns Signature Vacations and others. In addition other major travel conglomorates in Canada are making moves in the same direction. MyTravel PLC (which owns Sunquest, Alba, ToursMaison and more) has launched
www.MyTravel.ca an on-line agency and there will be more. How can they take control back when they are the ones causing a loss of control in the first place. It's just a game to them and we are the pawns who pay the bills.
IMHO.
