Thumbs up POP to SDQ or thereabouts

Hey Everybody ,

I've managed to get a very economical direct flight at the end of the month from UK (LGW) to Puerto Plata (POP) but I need to be in Santo Domingo area for the week I'll be in DR.

Can you recommend the optimum (i.e., safest, most economical, fastest) way to get from POP to Santo Domingo and then back to POP at the end of the week. The flight is about US$150 cheaper than a flight to SDQ so I can use some of that saving to get from POP to SanDom.

Thanks for any advice

Take the many Metro or Caribe buses between the two cities for about $5.

For the other post, same question, not sure if it was also yours, someone said it is RD$210 so that is now about US$50. Well, OK, US$7 or so.

You would also have to budget 12-15$ for the taxi ride to Charamicos from the airport. Charamicos is the nearest terminal where the buses leave for the capital.

John B,

For only saving $150 you'd be better off getting a flight to Santo Domingo instead of Puerto Plata, if you take into consideration the journey time etc that it will take you to get from Puerto Plata to Santo Domingo & back again.

Im doing that trip in January and im just gonna get a cab there and back cos I cant be dealing with getting buses etc. I know it costs alot more than the bus but at least I wont have to mess around trying to work out where to get the bus & taxis etc.

Good luck anyways.
