    Very true. Freaking ridiculous. I could see if the money, as least the airport taxes were going to the airports. Like that bogus $10 tourist card that you buy right off the plane, then hand back over 10 yards away. Like WTF??? What a racket!!!

    Can't blame the US airlines for not supporting such ridiculousness as the high taxes and landing fees, esp. in these turbulent financial times.

    One more down. Who's next?

    Probably so, but not at current prices and if that is the case, not in similar quantity of visitors!!!!!!!

    It looks like the Dominican government finally realizes that they are a big part of the problem. Felucho and others have scheduled an emergency meeting to look into reducing taxes on jet fuel, and also reducing landing fees and government charges on airline tickets.

    Don't despair though, as they will also discuss a charge for passengers of cruise ships who disembark in DR, as they are not currently charged. Hey, the money for their new jeepetas has to come from somewhere!

    US AIRWAYS Stop serving this routes for 3 months and the service is coming back on december 20,2008.
