Air Dominicana Update!!!
Prichardo told us in a previous post that the Air Dominicana people are just doing a thorough and meticulous check of the aircraft. And that check will go on as long as it takes to ensure safety.
Also, Air Dominicana's website has been delayed ... again. More thorough checking being done. It will, when completed, be the best website in the world. You understand.
But Prichardo tells us not to worry -- Air Dominicana will definitely, indisputably, without a doubt, as sure as night follows day, as certain as the sun rising in the morning, be coming very soon to an airport near you -- and all Dominicans will be proud.
And, even if it doesn't, some other fabulous new opportunity will come along. After all, one door closes and dozens more open. Exploding oil prices and world economic slowdown are no match for Dominicanismo!

This is so much more important than the various whacky airline schemes that repeatedly pop up on our island. It shows a responsible level of institutional control. Dominicans should be more proud of that improvement in governance than of the hairbrain schemes that would have a Dominican flag placed on some airplane.
In this environment, a real Dominican airline has a chance to develop. Just not right now.

Air Dominicana
Received their permit from local finance department on July 23. Their contract to fly was then submitted to IDAC and full authorization is expected shortly, they say. Authorization was granted by el consejo aeroportuario as a "non regular and cargo' operation, meaning charter operation. they are actually intending to begin flying. Much depends on what movements are made politically on Aug. 16 as to whether it will happen; ie: does Felucho stay or go.

I suppose
Maybe they'll get government subsidies since the state is a shareholder and seems to have no problem giving subsidies to entities not needing them. I agree about a 737 charter, but who knows? Stranger things have happened and a lot of people want the bandera dominicana flying around again. Seems illogical from the outset but .................
