Best day and time to fly?

I know its possible to get cheaper tickets based on the day of the week you leave or to get cheaper flights based on when you fly. so if anyone can recommend the day, airline and best time of the year to travel I would really appreciate it. Thanks!!!

My only suggestion would be to avoid Fridays and Saturdays in/out of the DR, particularly Puerto Plata and Punta Cana since most of the tourist crowd seems to arrive/depart on those days.

Cannot agree with you at all - surely depends on where you are flying from and the OP did not state that... maybe a little more info needed to make a good recommendation but it is definitely not a fact that most tourists to the DR arrive on Fridays and Saturdays.

Good point, you are completely right! I don't think it matters in Santo Domingo or even Santiago for that matter, and as for Puerto Plata and Punta Cana it's really just luck of the draw. You just need to do some searching through different dates. Try a website like kayak . com that can search several different airlines/websites at once for you.

Best day(s): Tuesday, Wednesday

Best time to fly when prices are generally lower: Late April to mid June and mid September through late November.

Best high season time to fly: Mid January to mid February

Best Airline: The one with the cheapest overall airfare, best connections and best departure time when you want to travel. Others may have their favorites, but the truth be told, I have had good and bad experiences with all the carriers that fly from the states to the DR.

I agree with playacaribe2 however Puerto Plata airport isn't exactly JFK! At it's busiest times it's still easily managed, including a quick cold one on the way through!
