Default Iberia is thinking about doing it "low cost airline" style

They're contemplating charging for checked-in baggage and they're even considering charging for reserving the seat. There's no dates as of when this will start or how much it will cost.

I guess they should lower the price, so that they can be like the other low cost airlines :/

Thanks for the article. It's too bad because I was really starting to like Iberia.

Iberia, in my experience, has become a "pot-luck" airline. Over the years, flying Iberia in, and out of Europe, the Middle East and South America, I have found that their prices have steadily risen steeply, whilst their service has steadily deteriorated, even in business and first class.

Occasionally one gets a good quality cabin crew, but the rule seems to be the surly, inefficient, ill-mannered, sloppy attendants, who may strive to appear to be giving you "service with a smile" but what you really have under the smile is "tu madre...!!" under their breath.

But I think that this trend is pretty endemic in European and American airlines these days, and it will continue to deteriorate as costs rise.

Anyone who has flown regularly with the better Middle Eastern and Far Eastern companies knows exactly what customer service really is, but you won't find it frequently elsewhere any more.

Charging for checked baggage is copying the LCC's (Low Cost Carriers) some of whom have been successfully sanctioned in the Spanish courts by consumer protection associations, since under Spanish Law ( at least until quite recently) the cost of the ticket must cover all passenger, luggage and allied charges.
