I agree with your opinion of Pomodoro.. everyone I know love it there but I have been there 3 or 4 times (unfortunately my kids love it) and have never enjoyed anything I have eaten. I recently ate pizza at the Bambu bar and it was the best pizza I have had yet in the DR!!

Malibu (near Caracol Hotel) is one of the most in DR.

Avoid la Pizita de la Campana they use ketchup instead tomatoe sauce !

That is so funny. Once I tried using tomatoe paste rather than pizza sauce on a homemade pizza and pizza officianado that my son is knew right away and occasionally reminds of that time.(lol)

Where exactly is this ketchup pizza parlour?

Default I have given up eating pizza out for the most part

There is nothing I would call pizza here. Some of it resembles pizza and is just OK, but to get close to what I consider pizza, I have to make it myself.

Once in a while I forget and try pizza at another place, only to be disappointed yet again.

The only thing Ive found vaguely resembling NY style pizza, is in the Capital...but for brick-oven, super thin crusted Italy style pizza...try Pizza Via. Just don't get the shrimp pizza.. (I know, I know...it wasn't for me) It was horrible... they put the shrimps with PEEL ON onto the pizza before cooking...it was inedible in several ways...plus their idea of a veggie pizza was onions and lettuce! That being said, the standard pizzas are cheap and delicious, and the dipping sauces are GREAT!

There is something about Dominican pizza that is less desireable than North American pizza regardless of where you go I find. I could be wrong but I think it's the cheese used. I think it's goat cheese but not 100% sure. When you buy the N A cheese in the supermarkets, you pay big. The local place family owned near us in Canada has the best pizza for miles. If that quality hit Cabarete, there would be traffic jams! I will try this Pizza Via upon returning.
Good luck,
Steve

The crazy guy in Pizza Via uses the best cheese for Pizza available, that is why if you order the regular Pizza without all the garbage on it, it is the best.

Default Pizza

Anyone have tried the pizza at Cassanova ( in Cabarette) very good, also happy hour prices 5-6 pm daily you get half price of all pizza, pasta and beer.
Newly remodeled inside or right on the beach seating.
