I've had pizza at Pomodoro, and thought it was pretty good. I'm not that crazy about the cheese they have in the DR though, it doesn't match up to what's available in America.
There's a pizza place in Sosua that we'd order from. That... was the best pizza I've had in my life (and I'm from just outside NY, so that statement means alot). I don't know the name of the place though, but... it's def. in my top 10.

Cool Best Pizza

If that quality hit Cabarete, there would be traffic jams! I will try this Pizza Via upon returning.
Good luck,

O.k, I just came back after a 1 week stay and I went to Pizza Via and thought it was great! The odd thing is none of the locals seem to like it though. The loud yelling Italian guy is quite entertaining and the female owner from France is nice to look at too.
We went to Sosua to a place called Avalon Restaurant & Pizzaria and the pizza was awesome! I think it was better than Pizza Via but without the fun atmosphere. I didn't pay attention to the price.
Just remember that Pizza Via is on the same side of the road as Janet's, just west of Janet's. An earlier post by Sky stated across the road which most of us would think it's a north south crossing and it is not.
Enjoy!
Steve

Default Was'nt all that impressed

I must admit I was not at all impressed with Palmadero's pizza as I was there Jan. And I am moving back to the DR in march. But let me tell you the best and I mean GREATEST pizza is at a place beside a small hotel called Casa Blanca, its on the east side of Cabarete near the casino, on the beach side of the road... There is a fire/log fed brick oven and a French guy there that makes one the greatest pizza's I have ever had... the atmosphere is great, the wine is good the service is fast, fresh friendly and the prices are outstanding!

Bar none the best ZAAAAA I had in the DR!

I thought the same as you Dave but I guess I was lazy in responding. I think it's got to be the same place. What are the odds of 2 pizza joints in the same area cooking with that wood stove?
Check out Avalon in Sosua though, it didn't look like much but was super tasty!

Steve - where is Avalon? I had pizza the other night at a relatively new place next to Jolly Roger in Sosua... The name had something to do with La Vaca (the cow)... the pizza was awesome...the most "traditional/US style" pizza Ive had in a while...it was kind of expensive though...

La Vaca (the cow)... the pizza was awesome..

I agree. The best pizza we have had here. He also has a very good regular menue that changes daily depending on what fresh ingredients he got that day. Owned by a young french couple.

"Ooo La Vache" is the name, right next door to Britania Pub in Sosua.
Their Pizza is outstanding, on par with Patsy's Pizza in NYC.
