Congrats to Junot!! I am reading it now - almost done.

A woman at work - who has no DR experience/knowledge - told me she really enjoyed it. I think there are so many references that she may not understand. But it obviously has wide spread appeal.

I bought and read half the book yesterday and didn't want to put it down; it reminded me of my early years in the DR and NYC. He wrote on page 6 that he posted on DR1; nice plug!

Has anyone read his 1st book?-- In English Drown or in Spanish Negocios?

Is it non-fiction? I have read that it was fiction and then I've seen that it was non- fiction. Anyone?

Drown is an excellent book of short stories - mostly set in the DR - that got Junot Díaz noticed in the mid-1990s.
