Not too many groups in any musical category have a long and acclaimed music history like Los Hermanos Rosario. This group is one of the pillars of Dominican music and the genre 'el merengue' that has a career history of over thirty years to be proud of and still have the respect of their most loyal fans and fans of the genre. It does not take long for true music lovers to appreciate the traditional and acoustic rhythms of Los Hermanos Rosario. A three man band from a family of music lovers from...

Getting back on track...

This has been one of the worse summers in a few years for reading. I simply have not been able to dedicate time to one of my favourite hobbies as life has been hectic. However, I started a book today and hopefully I will be able to read it and finish it within a reasonable time frame.

Life just gets so busy sometimes that reading is a luxury. If I don't have time to read novels, I try to read reference books just to keep my mind active. However, reading novels is what I enjoy. I purchased...

Día Mundial Del Refugiado

Posted 06-21-2008 at 12:40 AM by Marianopolita (Life's Potpourri)

This is such a well-written article about the human crisis of displaced people around the world. It's no surprise that the African continent has many displaced people due to civil war and unrest as well as poverty as evidenced by the number of people who risk their lives daily in small unsecure boats to reach the coast of Spain or Italy. Spain really has a crisis on its hands with the number of Africans who cross over daily and arrive in extreme conditions of suffering. It really makes the Cuban...

Fiction is good...a cada cual lo suyo

Reading is one of my primary past times. I would not be at ease with myself if I did not have the opportunity to read. Therefore, I make it part of my routine. I read exclusively in Spanish and have had many book discussions in the forum. My perception is that here on DR1 there are very few avid readers of Spanish books both fiction and non fiction (or least they don’t post their reviews and/or opinion). The threads I started are almost monologues however, I prefer that than frivolous conversation....
