Angry Looming Financial Crisis in DR....

Just read the news about interest shooting up to 52%, that's madness!!! that effectively cuts everybody out of the financial markets, and 36% for deposits? this may be profitable in the short run but when interest rates on deposits rise to such levels it usually means there's a severe crisis (maybe even, God forbid, a collapse) coming, a very similar phenomenon happened in Argentina just before their financial debacle. I'm a couple of thousand miles away but returning soon to the DR, can you guys tell me what's the word on the street? what's your personal opinion on what's going on in the country, economically? please fill me in...
