Default Punta Cana area

Hello everyone! We are an English couple and have visited DR many times and love the place! We are thinking about buying some land approx 30-45 mins north or south of Punta Cana so we can build a holiday home, and will be coming to the Dom Rep in March to look around. Does anyone have any information on the areas around Juanillo and north from Bavarro to Boca de Maimon?? The kind of info we are after is as follows:

1.What facilities are there in the area, i.e. shopping, restaurants, bars etc.
2. Where is the best diving/snorkelling along this coast.
3. Where exactly are the 'large developments' ie. golf courses, hotels being built.
4. Does anyone know of local estate agents, lawyers, architects that we can contact.

Thanks.

Thanks Homer!! It is not easy trying to get information when you are not in the country. Do you (or anyone else) have any contact information for banks or lawyers that operate in the area?

We owe you a drink!

In terms of businesses in the Punta Cana area (stores, restaurants, etc.) they are mostly limited to the resort properties. I'm sure the resorts won't mind having outsiders eating in their restaurants as long that you pay (of course) but, some hotels have some weird rules that can hamper such act. Shopping and everything else is all limited to what resorts have to offer. That's not to say that it's actually a limited option, because its not. With over 30 resorts and counting in the region, there is plenty to do. It's just that it's not going to be owned by many locals. Expect the area to receive a business "boom" after CAPCANA is completed. They are building an entire town down there, which is a much needed necessity in that isolated area of the country. If you want to buy some land in a villa development, try Palmas Real by the Melia Hotel Chain (I think that's the name of the development). They have commercials on this site, just search for them. If you have the money, Cap Cana will be exactly what you want. Multiple world class golf, beatiful and private residential neighborhoods, world class beach, and a town sprinkled with million dollar yachts, quaint boutiques, and wonderful restaurants. Ah, life in paradise!
